Ambassador's Corner

First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust
First Mid-Illinois Bancshares, Inc. was again ranked by U.S. Banker magazine as one of the Top 200 community banks within the United States.
First Mid-Illinois Bancshares, better known as First Mid, is one of the oldest community banks in America. This year marks their 145th Anniversary.

Edward Jones
Edward Jones was named number one Full-Service Broker by SmartMoney Magazine. The firm ranks first in three survey categories this year: stock picking, brokerage statement and customer satisfaction.
The magazine lauded Edward Jones for growing the number of financial advisors—up more than 500 since last year.

Gowin Parc of Mattoon
Gowin Parc has recently added a complete Alzheimer's library located in the 2nd phase of Gowin Parc in the community room. This library has over 100 Alzheimer's and other related dementia books for checkout, as well as, over 50 FREE materials to take home including the world renowned book the The 36 Hour day by Nancy L. Mace, & Peter V. Rabins.
This library was established in part through grant money related to the SIU school of Medicine Memory testing center, private donations from Gowin Parc families and resources purchased by Gowin Enterprises, Inc.
Gowin Parc built this library as their way of giving back to the Coles County community. This library is open to the public every day from 8a-5p and by appointment. In addition, Memory Assessment Services are available confidentially at Gowin Parc. Gowin Parc has been designated as an SIU School of Medicine Memory and Aging Network site and can provide memory loss assessment services in a convenient, compassionate setting close to home.
Gowin Parc has also offered adult day care services, called "The Club", for about a year. We truly feel that we are adding to the lives of our residents and club members on a daily basis by living up to our motto "The Comfort of a Promise Kept".

Mattoon Area Family YMCA
Come in to the YMCA and register for Adult Ladies Doubles Tennis. The first session begins July 12th and is played on Monday evenings at 6:30 pm. Session 2 begins July 8th and is played on Thursday mornings at 8:30 am. Games are played at Lytle Park, and the season lasts 7 weeks. The age requirement is 16 years and older.
The league is $15 for YMCA Members and $25 for Non-Members.

Midwest Amercia FCU
Jeannie Spivey, Manager of the Mattoon MidWest America FCU has been named Manager of the Year. Ms. Spivey has managed the office on Lake Land Boulevard since May 2001.
The Manager of the Year award recognizes employees of MidWest America for their outstanding involvement and performance within the organization during the previous calendar year.  Nominations and selections are made by the senior management team.

Land of Lincoln Credit Union
Land of Lincoln Credit Union is excited to announce their 3rd annual "21 Film Project" Film Contest and Screening. Open to the public, contestants submit a 4-minute short film for the chance to win a grand prize of $1,500. Entries are due by July 31, 2010.

Chris Phillips, Vice President of Marketing at Land of Lincoln Credit Union, has been named Outstanding Young Professional of the Year by the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce. Phillips was recognized for his involvement in the community, including the 501 Club and the Decatur Chamber's ambassador program. The award is given to a young professional who provide the community with outstanding leadership.

Bidwell Candies
Bidwell Candies recently held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Grand Opening of their new Location at 1610 Broadway Avenue in Mattoon.
The Ceremony held on June 15, 2010 brought a great turn out, great food, and great fun. Bidwell Candies is owned and operated by Chamber Members Greg & Lori Kuhl. In attendance were Mayor Tim Gover and City Administrator Sue McLaughlin representing the City of Mattoon.
